About this scholarship

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program partners with the University of Rwanda to award postgraduate scholarships based on academic merit, demonstrated economic disadvantage and leadership potential. Applications are assessed using a standard weighting scale covering Academic Talent (30%), Economic Disadvantage (45%) and Leadership Potential (25%).

Important information


Equivalence

Applicants with foreign academic qualifications must obtain an equivalence from Rwanda's Higher Education Council (HEC) and the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA).

Visa on Arrival

An entry visa is granted upon arrival at Kigali International Airport for all citizens worldwide.

International Student Visa

International students must apply for a study visa within 15 days of arrival, providing a police clearance, valid passport. This is the document required for the one international awarded by the Scholarship.

Smart Phone Requirement

All students are encouraged to have a smartphone to support the blended learning process before getting the granted laptop from the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Rwanda.
